The Undefeated
We are going to be looking ahead at the week to come with an emphasis on the undefeated teams. We have some good matchups in NCAA Football, NFL (one undefeated left) and of course the NHL (sorry sharks).
Lets get started with a Big Ten battle featured on the Big Noon Kickoff on Fox, 5-0 #10 Penn St at 6-0 #5 Michigan. While these 2 teams are both undefeated the books sure arent going by that stat line alone to set the odds on this game. Michigan is sitting as a 7-point favorite very consistently across all books. I have not caught much of Penn St this year so will be watching to see how they stack up against a Michigan team who has passed the eye test (too soon?)
We have 2 more games featuring teams with 0s in the L column both starting at 2:30 CT. Alabama down to #3 at #6 Tennessee on CBS and 5-0 Oklahoma State #8 at 5-0 TCU #13 on ABC. I feel like I am on repeat week after week talking about Alabama, 7.5-point favorite, and Bryce Youngs status still up in the air. This will be a game to sit back and watch and see how Tennessee handles themselves in this huge game for their program. TCU is coming out as a 3.5-point favorite and the argument can be made they have had a slightly tougher schedule at this point. Interesting stat line both teams with 46.4 points a game and allowing 24.8 for OK State and TCU at 23.8. I guess they were making it easy on the books to set a total at 68.5, must have thought 70 was too obvious.
Moving onto the NFL where one team remains undefeated in the Philadelphia Eagles. Not only are the Eagles off to a hot start but the NFC East as a whole (lets forget about the Commanders for a moment) are looking good. Eagles, Cowboys and Giants combined only have 2 losses between them. Which brings us to the Sunday Night Football matchup for the Dallas Cowboys at the Philadelphia Eagles on NBC. There is talk about Dak returning but I say why Rush (Cooper) him back, you see what I did there?!? But seriously they may be better off in the long run not pushing him to return early for this game and wait a week to take on Lions then Bears or even give further rest with a bye after that and get him 100% for the late season run. One other game you'll want on your watchlist is the Buffalo Bills at the Kansas City Chiefs at 3:25 on Sunday.
NHL is BACK!!! Lets keep the undefeated teams focus going, I know only 2 teams have officially played but that does technically leave all teams (sorry again Sharks) undefeated at this point. The official North America puck drop is Tuesday 10.11.22 with a double header featuring the Tampa Bay Lightning at the New York Rangers followed by the Golden Knights vs the LA Kings. But really the first game we all are waiting for on Wednesday between the Boston Bruins at my Washington Capitals, how good of a game 1 matchup is that. We will definitely get diving in deeper to the NHL analytics as the season gets going, I know Aces High has been working hard with offseason with his NHL Modeling.
